Market Operations is responsible for the stability and daily IT operations of critical financial trading platforms across BGC Partners and associated entities.

This is a hands-on Application Support role for someone who thrives in fast-moving trading environments and wants deep exposure to electronic markets. You’ll work directly on live trading platforms used across FX, U.S. Treasuries, Futures, and emerging exchange products, supporting critical systems where stability, speed, and judgement really matter.

You’ll operate in a fast-paced trading environment, supported by experienced colleagues and well-established processes, where sound judgement and calm decision-making are valued. You will bring solid technical expertise, strong platform knowledge, and the ability to engage confidently with both business and technology stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of production incidents, independently driving rapid diagnosis and restoration of service.
  • Prioritise issues effectively based on business impact and urgency.
  • Actively monitor and improve the resilience of trading platforms across multiple asset classes.
  • Support and maintain both Production and UAT environments.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with users onsite and remotely.
  • Contribute to improvements in documentation, monitoring, tooling, automation, and operational processes.
  • Work closely with Development teams to ensure smooth handover of new systems and releases to Support.
  • Be the trusted technical voice during incidents, delivering clear, calm updates to the business.
  • Support regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Identify operational risks and help close any gaps.
  • Ensure team members receive required training.

Skills/experience required

  • Strong commercial experience supporting Linux-based production systems (typically 5+ years)
  • Working knowledge of FIX protocol (or strong willingness to deepen FIX expertise).
  • Network troubleshooting and protocol knowledge
  • Basic Python or any automation exposure (desirable)
  • Any experience capturing packets and any server performance tuning is useful but not mandatory.
  • Strong appetite for learning new technologies and tools.
  • Any knowledge of FX, US Treasuries, or Futures markets is useful, with foundational trading concepts (bid/ask, spread, order flow, market data)
  • Strong customer-service mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong incident, problem, and documentation skills.
