Who We Are
Robert Walters is the world's most trusted talent solutions business. Across the globe, we deliver recruitment, outsourcing, and talent advisory services for businesses of all sizes, opening doors for people with diverse skills, ambitions, and backgrounds.
The Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and self-motivated Technical Application & Systems Investigation Analyst to join a team responsible for investigating complex application issues, understanding system behaviour, and tracing data flows across interconnected technology environments.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, investigating undocumented system behaviour, analysing application interactions, and working across multiple teams to identify root causes.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in L2/L3 application support, production issue investigation, incident management, system troubleshooting, and data flow analysis. They should be comfortable working with limited information, analysing evidence from logs, databases, interfaces, scripts and application behaviour to understand how systems process and exchange data.
This is not a software development role; however, the candidate should be comfortable reading and interpreting existing code, scripts and configurations to understand application behaviour and support technical investigations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
