Position: Application Support Engineer

Reports to: Head of Platforms

Education Level: Graduate

Location: New York City – In office 3 days per week

Salary: $130,000

Overview - About MillTech

MillTech provides advanced FX Hedging and Cash Investment solutions to increase market access, reduce costs and automate manual workflows. With a focus on automation, integration and connectivity, we have pioneered an independent risk management and liquidity solution for fund managers, institutions and global corporates, which is purpose-built to deliver best execution at scale.

Since its inception in 2020, the MillTech platform has grown to support over $500bn in annual FX volume and over $35bn in client programs and is now trusted by some of the world’s largest institutions. In 2026, MillTech announced a $60m minority investment from the growth equity arm of Apax Partners which valued the company at $325m. As part of our next phase of growth, we will be opening an office in New York City this year.

Headquartered in London, the world’s largest FX hub, MillTech provides services to clients in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway and Liechtenstein. MillTech is authorised and regulated by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA FRN 911636) and registered with the USA’s National Futures Association (NFA).

The opportunity:

As Application Support Engineer at MillTech you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, improvement and smooth operation of our platform and infrastructure. You will contribute through incident response, proactive monitoring, automation and close collaboration with engineering and business teams. As our first technical hire in the US, you’ll be the on-the-ground engineering presence in our New York office and extend our platform coverage into US working hours.

Requirements (essential):

  • Investigate, own and resolve incidents across the platform and infrastructure
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a rapid response to issues
  • Build and maintain runbooks, post-mortems and internal documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing
  • Implement and continuously improve observability through monitoring, alerting and dashboards
  • Reduce operational overhead through automation and reliability-focused engineering
  • Actively participate in the innovation and continuous improvement of our support processes and applications
  • Train, coach and monitor the performance of members of the UK on-call support rota

Required Skills:

  • A strong foundation in application support and site reliability engineering with experience supporting production environments
  • Understanding of SRE principles including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets and blameless post-mortems
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g. Typescript,.NET, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience in database management
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, Linux and Windows systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and remain calm under pressure
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges
  • Effective time management skills for efficient prioritisation
  • Foster a culture of delivering high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Additional skills you may have:

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation / CDK)
  • Knowledge of DevOps deployment practices and tooling (e.g. TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Docker)
  • Experience in the financial sector
  • Exposure to AI/ML platforms, prompt engineering, or building integrations with LLM APIs
