About the role

At Booker, we're always looking for ways to make things better for our colleagues and customers. As an Engineer II - Application Support, you'll play an important role in supporting and enhancing the HR and Payroll applications that help our business run smoothly every day.

Working as part of the Application Engineering team, you'll collaborate with stakeholders across the business to understand their needs, troubleshoot issues and deliver practical system solutions. You'll help ensure our applications and data are reliable, secure and fit for purpose, while supporting continuous improvement across our HR and Payroll technology landscape.

You will be responsible for

  • Support the day-to-day operation of HR and Payroll applications, ensuring a reliable service for colleagues across Booker.
  • Manage incidents, service requests and support activities through to successful resolution.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective system solutions.
  • Configure, maintain and optimise application functionality to support business processes.
  • Support testing activities for system changes, enhancements and project deliveries.
  • Investigate and resolve issues that impact application performance, availability or functionality.
  • Produce and maintain accurate documentation, reporting and support records.
  • Provide user guidance and support, helping colleagues get the most from our systems.
  • Identify and deliver improvements that enhance processes and user experience.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, technical teams and business stakeholders to develop effective solutions.
  • Follow established governance, security, change management and support processes.

You will need

  • Experience supporting HR, Payroll or other business-critical applications.
  • The ability to understand business needs and translate them into practical, user-friendly solutions.
  • Experience configuring, maintaining or supporting enterprise applications.
  • A good understanding of HR and Payroll processes.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to manage priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Desirable

  • ERP configuration experience.
  • Experience supporting application change and project delivery.
  • Experience delivering training, guidance or knowledge transfer to users.
  • Experience working within an HR or Payroll environment.
