Application Support Engineer
Help keep public transport moving.
We're looking for a hands-on Application Support Engineer to support and improve the systems behind real-time passenger information, fleet monitoring and service operations. You'll investigate issues that matter to customers and operators, take ownership through to resolution, and work closely with engineering teams to make our products more reliable.
Our platforms are used around the world to deliver accurate arrival information, manage vehicle fleets and communicate disruption updates to passengers. Built around Vix Horizon, BusNet and the new Beacon cloud platforms, our systems are increasingly cloud-native on AWS.
What you'll do
- Provide second- and third-line support for internal and external customers
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve application, data and connectivity incidents, using ITIL-aligned processes
- Own incidents from initial triage through to resolution, communicating clearly on progress, risk and impact
- Escalate effectively to engineering, partners or other teams when needed
- Use the command line to investigate remote devices, services and integrations
- Support and improve applications, data feeds, cloud platforms and operational tooling
- Build useful knowledge articles and share insight across the support team
- Work with development and cross-functional teams to improve performance, reliability and deployment
- Contribute ideas that make the service—and the customer experience—better

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
