Application Support Engineer

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading global organisation to appoint an experienced Application Support Engineer to support and manage a portfolio of critical enterprise applications used across an international user base.

This is a highly visible role within a global technology function, offering the opportunity to own and enhance business-critical systems while driving operational excellence, user adoption, system performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and third-party suppliers to ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and aligned with evolving business requirements.

The Role

As an Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the administration, optimisation, support, and continuous improvement of key business applications throughout their lifecycle, from implementation through to decommissioning.

You will act as a technical subject matter expert and application owner, ensuring systems are effectively maintained, supported, and enhanced to deliver maximum value to the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administration and support for several business-critical enterprise applications.
  • Review supplier releases, upgrades, security patches, and enhancements, identifying opportunities for system improvements.
  • Configure, tailor, install, test, and maintain application software in line with business requirements.
  • Monitor system availability, performance, and utilisation against agreed service levels.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application incidents, problems, and service issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and work with internal teams and external vendors to implement permanent fixes.
  • Coordinate application changes, upgrades, testing activities, and enhancement releases.
  • Manage application lifecycle activities, licensing, documentation, security reviews, and governance requirements.
  • Support high availability and disaster recovery processes.
  • Design and deliver training materials, user guides, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Develop and support "super-user" communities to improve user adoption and capability.
  • Analyse business processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency through technology.
  • Act as an escalation point for support teams and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to established procedures, controls, and operational standards.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
