Are you an experienced Application Support Engineer with strong Linux and Python skills looking for your next opportunity with a leading technology business?

A well-established and highly regarded data platform company near Aylesbury/Milton Keynes Buckinghamshire is looking for a technically capable and proactive Application Support Engineer to join their team — offering a fantastic hybrid role where your Linux expertise and Python knowledge will be put to great use in a dynamic and data-driven environment.

The Role

As Application Support Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of a sophisticated data platform. You'll be the go-to technical expert for application support issues, working closely with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and effectively. This is a hands-on role that requires strong Linux experience and solid Python skills — someone who is equally comfortable investigating a complex technical issue as they are scripting a solution to prevent it from happening again.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing application support for a leading data platform, taking ownership of incidents, problems, and service requests through to resolution
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting complex technical issues across Linux-based environments, identifying root causes and implementing effective fixes
  • Writing, maintaining, and optimising Python scripts to automate processes, improve system performance, and support operational efficiency
  • Monitoring platform health and performance, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact the business
  • Working closely with development and infrastructure teams to manage releases, deployments, and configuration changes
  • Producing clear and accurate technical documentation including runbooks, incident reports, and knowledge base articles
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to manage and resolve technical issues effectively
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of support processes, tools, and practices

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
