Application System Analyst (Data Lineage)
Location: London
Role Type: Contract - 12 months
Work Setup: Hybrid - 3 days in the office

The Role
Our client is a large multinational firm that provides a range of financial services, including advisory, investment, and asset management solutions. It serves a diverse set of clients worldwide, focusing on strategic planning, market operations, and long-term financial growth.
What you'll do
- Investigate complex application and production issues using logs, databases, interfaces, batch processes and system behaviour.
- Conduct root cause analysis and trace data lineage across interconnected applications and systems.
- Follow inbound and outbound data flows between source systems, applications, databases and downstream consumers.
- Analyse APIs, file transfers, application interfaces and batch workflows to identify processing issues and data discrepancies.
- Understand transformation logic, processing rules and dependencies between applications and technical components.
- Work with development, infrastructure, vendors and business teams to resolve issues and document technical findings.

What you bring
- Experience in L2/L3 application support, production issue investigation, incident management and technical troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of data flows, system dependencies, application interactions and root cause analysis.
- Comfortable analysing logs, databases, interfaces, APIs, batch processes and other technical evidence.
- Able to read and interpret existing SQL, Python and Shell scripts; knowledge of Java or similar languages is advantageous.
- Experience supporting complex financial services or enterprise applications, ideally across trading, risk or capital markets environments.
- Familiarity with platforms such as Murex, Calypso, Summit or FIS Front Arena, and AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot, is desirable.
