We’re looking for an enthusiastic, practical and commercially minded Application Technician to join Spraylat International and support the continued growth of our Protectapeel range.
This is a predominantly field-based role, typically 4–5 days per week visiting customers, potential customers and project sites.
The role combines hands-on product demonstration, customer training, technical support and sales development. You’ll work closely with our Sales team, helping customers understand how to get the best from our products while also identifying opportunities where Protectapeel could be used on other applications, projects or sites.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Visiting customers and potential customers to carry out practical product demonstrations.
- Demonstrating Protectapeel products using airless spray equipment, rollers and other appropriate application methods.
- Training customer operatives in the correct application of our products.
- Assessing trained operatives and supporting the Protectapeel certification process.
- Revisiting live projects to check application standards and provide additional support where required.
- Providing practical and technical advice to customers.
- Understanding the benefits and applications of the Protectapeel product range and confidently communicating these to customers.
- Identifying additional sales opportunities during customer and site visits.
- Working with the Sales team to develop opportunities identified in the field.
- Supporting prospective customers during product trials and demonstrations.
- Investigating customer or application issues, establishing root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Conducting virtual customer training where appropriate.
- Maintaining accurate records of customer visits, training, demonstrations and opportunities.
- Measuring and recording dry film thickness during appropriate site visits.
- Maintaining demonstration equipment, airless spray pumps, tools, PPE and other company equipment.
- Occasionally delivering products to customer locations where required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working practically on site but equally confident speaking with customers.
Previous experience in one or more of the following would be particularly beneficial:
- Product demonstrations
- Technical sales
- Field sales
- Customer training
- Construction products
- Coatings, paints or surface protection
- Marine
- Aerospace
- Engineering
- Manufacturing or industrial products
Previous sales or product demonstration experience would be a real advantage. You don't necessarily need to come from the coatings industry — we're particularly interested in people who can learn a technical product, demonstrate it confidently and recognise a commercial opportunity when they see one.
You should be:
- Practical and comfortable using tools and application equipment.
- Confident demonstrating products in front of customers.
- Comfortable speaking with everyone from site operatives to managers and decision-makers.
- Commercially aware and able to spot additional opportunities.
- Able to explain technical information in a straightforward way.
- Comfortable working independently and managing a field-based diary.
- Professional and organised in recording visits and following up actions.
- Safety conscious and comfortable working on construction and industrial sites.
- Willing to travel regularly as part of the role.
