Job Description

Purpose of Job

To develop innovative thermal/mechanical solutions to resolve customer requirements. Manage Projects and provide engineering support to customers and internal departments to develop innovative technical solutions to meet both customer and BOYD expectations.

Specific Duties

  • To act as principal point of contact for customers’ engineers.
  • Responsible for the generation of thermal management solutions to customer’s requirements, potentially with the benefits of CFD analysis.
  • Managing individual projects allocated. This will involve creating engineering designs using 3D modelling, 2D drawings. Raising PO Requests for materials, equipment and the subsequent responsibility for the prototype build and test.
  • To liaise with Production/Manufacturing Engineering to ensure a smooth transition into manufacture and ensuring that any processes introduced meet Customer requirements.
  • To work with and support the Sales Department function.
  • To ensure that Customer related information is maintained and archived in accordance with Departmental procedures.
  • To work with due regard to Health and Safety requirements.
  • To ensure that 5S housekeeping targets are achieved in areas of control.
  • To support the Engineering function when other Engineers are not available.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is desirable but not essential. Suitable industrial experience in line with the role would equally be considered.

Experience

  • Up to 3 to 4 years engineering experience in a design, development and manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with the use of CAD to generate 3D models and 2D drawings.

Skill & Knowledge Requirements

  • Highly numerate and computer literate.
  • Excellent analytical problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of 3D CAD design in one or more of the following;
      • Machined components
      • Assemblies
    • Whilst not essential, a knowledge of thermodynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics would be useful.
    • Basic knowledge of Electrical aspects of engineering.
    • Commercially aware with regard to design and development of product.
