Job Description

Arm is looking for an engineer to join our hardware applications engineering team based in Arm's Partner Enablement group for CPU and System IP Support Team! in Cambridge, UK. Applications Engineering is a multifaceted and wide-ranging role that combines deep technical expertise with outstanding interpersonal skills. We help Arm's partners build real-world applications based on Arm technology. Our partners scale from big semiconductor houses to small start-ups, and all of them are building new exciting products.

Job Overview

As an Application Engineer, you will be working with Arm partners around the world as they develop next-generation products using Arm CPU and System IP. You will provide technical guidance, support, and training, helping customers successfully integrate and optimise Arm technology within their SoC designs.

This is a varied and highly technical role that combines hands-on engineering and problem-solving with collaboration and communication. You will have opportunities to deepen your technical expertise, work with a broad range of technologies and products, and collaborate with teams across Arm and with engineers from leading technology companies worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

As An Application Engineer, Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Providing timely and accurate technical guidance on Arm CPU and System IP.
  • Investigating technical issues and working collaboratively with partners to identify solutions.
  • Developing and delivering technical training on CPU and System IP.
  • Reviewing customer SoC designs incorporating Arm IP and providing recommendations on functionality and optimisation.
  • Collaborating with Arm IP design and product management teams to improve the partner experience and provide input into future IP development.
  • Testing IP deliverables and providing feedback to design teams ahead of customer releases.
  • Creating and maintaining technical knowledge-based articles and application notes.
  • Developing tools and techniques that help the Applications Engineering team investigate and solve problems more efficiently.

Required Skills & Experience

  • BSc Degree or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering (ECE) or equivalent
  • Excellent understanding of HDLs such as Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL
  • Very good knowledge of CPU architecture principles and SoC design principles
  • Knowledge of System Coherency concepts
  • Ability to use RTL simulation tools for debugging purposes: Questasim, Verdi, Cadence Simvision, Xcelium
  • Ability to work with remote teams

“Nice to Have” Skills & Expertise

  • Knowledge of one or more AMBA bus protocols
  • Knowledge of the Arm Architecture
  • Knowledge of PCIe, CXL, and/or UCIe specifications

Salary Range

£55,300 - £74,800 per year
