Application Engineer – North Midlands (Nottingham to Birmingham)

At Cutwel, we help precision engineers make better tooling decisions. Since 1996 we’ve supported over 13,000 customers annually by combining one of the UK’s most complete tooling ranges with real technical expertise. We don’t just supply products, we help customers solve machining challenges, improve performance, and reduce cost per part. Working with leading brands including YG-1, Korloy, Kennametal, Mitutoyo, Insize and Gerardi, we deliver proven practical solutions across cutting tools, machine tool accessories and metrology.

We’re looking for an Application Engineer to join our growing team in the North Midland area, someone who is both technically strong and commercially aware who can help us deliver real cost savings and added value to our customers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing hands on technical support and application advice to customers
  • Visiting sites to identify opportunities to improve tool life, cycle times and process reliability
  • Delivering tooling trials and demonstrations, with clear performance feedback
  • Troubleshooting machining issues and implementing practical, cost effective solutions
  • Supporting the sales team by helping convert opportunities through technical value
  • Building strong relationships with engineers, buyers and production teams
  • Working closely with leading tooling manufacturers to deliver the right solution first time

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
