About The Role

The Applications Engineer position is a critical role within the company's technical and commercial teams. This 12-month fixed-term contract offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineering professional to contribute to the company's project estimation and client engagement processes. The successful candidate will work closely with both the Commercial and Engineering departments, providing technical expertise and support throughout the project lifecycle. The role involves analyzing customer specifications, preparing detailed cost estimates, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure that customer requirements are met with precision and efficiency. This position requires a proactive approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of quotes and technical support.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in an engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering. While relevant industry experience in a mechanical component engineering environment is preferred, recent graduates with a strong technical background and a keen interest in manufacturing and project estimation will also be considered. The role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications. Additionally, the candidate must be willing to travel internationally as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding and analyzing customer specifications and technical drawings to accurately interpret project requirements.
  • Collaborating with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to discuss and refine complete specifications for products and services.
  • Leading the complex quote process, ensuring all technical and commercial aspects are considered.
  • Researching component prices and sourcing cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Calculating and consolidating the final project budget, considering all relevant costs and margins.
  • Tracking project costs throughout the process and keeping customers and suppliers informed of progress and any potential issues.
  • Recommending configurations and specifications based on technical analysis and customer needs.
  • Maintaining clear communication with clients and internal teams to ensure expectations are managed effectively.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the quoting process.
