Job Summary:

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Applications Engineering Manager to contribute to our growing success. You’ll be leading a global team of Application Engineers across EMEA, APAC, and the US to design single-use assemblies that meet the needs of our customers with a focus on agility, flexibility, and quality. As a key part of the consultative selling approach, you’ll be talking directly with our global sales teams and our customers to provide a service that is world-class. Working with the local Supply teams, you’ll drive continuous improvement for the product line to ensure our product design meets the continuously evolving needs of the biopharma and medical device industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As the designated Technical Authority for WMFTS single-use assemblies, you will lead the global Applications Engineering team using your extensive knowledge of single-use assembly products and services and more broadly in their commercial relevance
  • You will motivate the team to consistently produce high-quality drawings and quotations quickly, focusing on the customer to serve them to the best of our ability
  • You will be accountable for the processes that underpin the design of the product line, the effective transfer to manufacture and lifecycle management
  • You will be involved in developing new products and processes to support the WMArchitect global strategy and enable continuous double-digit growth YoY
  • You will secure buy-in for new/updated practices and policies from all relevant functions including Senior Leadership by providing a compelling case and clear explanation in the face of any resistance or divergent views
  • You will be responsible for all pricing/quoting for WMArchitect products (except in RFP/RFQ situations which will be overseen by the Head of Department)
  • You will independently prioritise customer/design enquiries by evaluating the feasibility, opportunity size, customer type, and likelihood of winning the business
  • You will evaluate any issues concerning the design, manufacture, and support of the WMArchitect product range and services (which may include but are not limited to costing/pricing conflicts, operational process difficulties, ERP system constraints, and technical complexities) and improve ways of working to solve problems and strive for excellence
  • You will set performance objectives for the team that are aligned with the business strategy and will evaluate progress against them whilst delivering meaningful, timely feedback, using these reviews to identify staff training and development needs
  • You will effectively plan the resource requirements for the Applications Engineering team and drive the recruitment process to onboard talent and continuously develop them
  • You will champion a safety culture on-site and contribute to training initiatives for our sales teams and other stakeholders

Skills/Experience:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience gained within an engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes and applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with a track record of developing high-performing teams, driving quality standards, and delivering commercial results.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed or international teams would be advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and their application within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse teams and customer groups in a global setting.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Desirable: Experience with single-use technologies and systems within the biopharmaceutical sector.
