The University of Pretoria (UP), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, has officially opened applications for its prestigious Scholars Program, offering fully funded opportunities to academically talented African students facing socio-economic barriers.
The program, which has supported high-achieving young Africans since 2014, entered a new phase in late 2023 with expanded support for the continent’s next generation of leaders.

Important Note: Applicants must first apply for admission to the University of Pretoria before submitting their scholarship application. Only students with provisional admission will be considered.
Application Deadlines for 2027 Intake
- Undergraduate programs: August 31, 2026
- Postgraduate (Honours & Master’s): September 30, 2026
Applications must be submitted as a single PDF document to mcfsp@up.ac.za, including academic transcripts, proof of financial need, and other required documentation.
How to Apply
- Apply for admission to the University of Pretoria via their online portal.
- Download the relevant Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program application form (undergraduate or postgraduate) from the official UP website.
- Compile all required documents and submit electronically.
