Software Engineer – C#/.NET & AI
Up to £70,000 + Benefits
Nottingham | Hybrid – 3 days per week
We’re partnering with an established global software business that is investing heavily in how AI is embedded into its products. They’re looking for a Software Engineer who combines strong C#/.NET engineering with genuine, commercial experience implementing LLMs / Generative AI into software products. This isn't an AI research position, and it isn't a traditional.NET role with “AI” added to the job title. You'll be building real, production-facing software and helping develop intelligent functionality that solves genuine customer problems.
What you'll be doing
- Building and developing backend services using C# and modern.NET
- Designing and delivering new AI-powered product capabilities
- Integrating LLMs and Generative AI into production software
- Working with areas such as RAG, agents, vector databases and intelligent automation
- Building scalable APIs and cloud-based services
- Taking ownership across design, build, deployment and ongoing improvement
- Working closely with Product and Engineering to turn AI opportunities into usable features

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why you're a good match

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What we're looking for
You'll need strong commercial experience with:
- C# /.NET
- Backend software engineering and APIs
- Cloud environments – Azure or AWS
- SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL
- Modern engineering practices and CI/CD
- Commercial implementation of LLMs / Generative AI
That final point is important. We're looking for somebody who has actually built AI functionality into a commercial product or production environment – not simply used Copilot or experimented with an LLM personally. Experience with RAG, AI agents, vector databases, embeddings or similar GenAI architecture would be particularly valuable. Frontend exposure to React, Angular, Next.js or similar is useful, but this is predominantly a backend engineering position.

Why consider it?
You'll join a substantial software organisation that's moving beyond simply talking about AI and investing in engineers who can actually build with it. You'll have the opportunity to combine strong software engineering fundamentals with modern AI technologies and help shape how intelligent functionality is introduced into real-world products.
