Job description:
The University of Portsmouth is a global employer of choice where exceptional people create, share, and apply knowledge that makes a difference.
Experience the pride of being part of a select group – one of only four universities in the south-east of England to achieve a prestigious Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework. Additionally, we proudly rank among the top 140 universities globally in the Times Higher Young University World Rankings.
Ambition, Responsibility, and Openness drive our every endeavor. Join our esteemed institution with a proven track record of success, and where dedication to excellence is key. We want people to make their mark in a professional community that truly values people, innovation, and achievement.
The Faculty of Business & Law at the University of Portsmouth, in collaboration with PETA Ltd., is seeking an innovative and motivated individual to join a prestigious Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme as an Applied Learning Design Associate. This pioneering project will develop an Applied Learning Design Framework (ALDF) to create agile, market-led training solutions within the sector to identify current and future market needs.
As the KTP Associate, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of the ALDF, working at the intersection of learning design theory and digital pedagogy and technology-enabled learning innovation. You will explore how data, digital tools, automation, and emerging technologies can be integrated into learning design processes to improve responsiveness, scalability, and efficiency. You will collaborate with PETA’s operational teams and academic specialists from the School of Organisations, Systems and People and the Centre for Academic Development and Innovation (CADI), combining technical development with research-informed decision-making to deliver a strategically significant project that will influence workforce development across the region.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
