From the Mariana Trench to surging shorelines, we make the impossible possible through our continuous passion for innovation.

Our people design, engineer and manufacture technologies that are enabling our customers to discover, navigate, measure, detect and communicate in the toughest environment on earth: Our oceans. We’ve been actively developing the technology to make the oceans accessible for over 50 years and we’re only just getting started… At Sonardyne, we value different ways of thinking. Whether you think in code, patterns, systems, or steps, your unique perspective is important to us.

We are looking for a talented and curious Applied Scientist to join our Acoustic Signatures team, helping us better understand, model and predict the acoustic behaviour of underwater systems and environments. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in physics, mathematics or engineering who enjoys solving complex real-world problems through a combination of scientific analysis, simulation, experimentation and software development.

The Role

As an Applied Scientist, you will contribute to the development of innovative acoustic technologies and modelling techniques that support Sonardyne’s world-leading subsea products and systems. Working alongside scientists, engineers and technical specialists, you will investigate acoustic phenomena, develop analytical and simulation models, analyse experimental data and help translate scientific understanding into practical engineering solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from fluid dynamics and acoustic propagation through to the development of advanced predictive tools and algorithms.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
