SSSC Council Member Opportunity

SSSC is the regulator for the social service workforce in Scotland. The SSSC protects the public by registering social service workers, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct, SSSC can investigate and take action.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Council has corporate responsibility for ensuring SSSC fulfils the aims and objectives set by Scottish Ministers; and for promoting effective and accountable governance. The overall role of a Council Member is to provide strategic leadership and direction focused on agreed outcomes.

The successful appointee will be given a training plan, continuous support and mentorship within the Council. This includes the opportunity to participate in a ‘buddying’ programme where you will be paired up with another Council Member, allowing you to gain insight, knowledge and aid you in performing in the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Public Appointees are responsible for:

  • Ensuring that the public body delivers its functions in accordance with Scottish Ministers’ policies and priorities
  • Providing strategic leadership
  • Ensuring financial stewardship
  • Holding the Chief Executive and senior management team to account

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
