Join the finance team at Dransfield Properties
Start your career in accountancy while working towards the AAT Level 3 qualification. You’ll gain practical experience across a range of accounting tasks, with increasing responsibility as you develop and the opportunity to build a long-term career with us.
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Process purchase invoices and maintain accurate accounting records
- Assist with supplier payments and reconcile supplier statements
- Carry out bank reconciliations and investigate differences
- Support the sales ledger and credit control process
- Deal with routine supplier and internal accounts queries
- Process staff expenses and other financial transactions
- Provide general support to the finance team
- As experience develops, assist with month-end work including journals, accruals and prepayments, VAT returns and preparation of management accounts

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Assist with the investigation of, and response to, financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements, and report financial information to users of accounts.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve, or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Communicate using a range of approaches and media, with an understanding of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Training schedule
The apprentice will work towards the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting with First Intuition. Taught study sessions will take place during paid working hours at First Intuition’s Sheffield centre, 18 Hawley Street, Sheffield, S1 4WP. The exact training timetable is being finalised, with study expected to begin in autumn 2026. Learning will be supported by practical experience and development in the workplace.

Essential qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade 5)
- Maths (grade 6)
Desirable qualifications
- A Level in:
- Any subjects (grade 2 A levels at Grade C or above)

Other requirements
The apprentice will need to be able to travel to First Intuition’s Sheffield training centre for scheduled study days.
Dransfield Properties is an award-winning property development and investment company based at Fox Valley in Stocksbridge, Sheffield. Established in 1992, we specialise in town centre regeneration and own and manage a portfolio of retail, leisure, office and residential developments across the UK. The apprentice will join an experienced finance team at our head office and gain exposure to the accounting and financial management of a varied property portfolio.

Our intention is to develop the successful apprentice into a long-term member of our finance team. Following successful completion of AAT Level 3, we would expect to support progression to AAT Level 4 and, subject to performance and suitability, ultimately towards the ACCA professional qualification. The role would develop alongside their studies, with increasing responsibility and exposure to more advanced accounting work.
