Bristol NHS Foundation Trust: Business Administrator Apprenticeship
Overview
Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, formed by the merger of North Bristol NHS Trust and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, offers a Business Administrator apprenticeship. This 15-18 month programme combines online learning with on-site support at the Southmead campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality administrative support.
- Organize meetings and maintain key records.
- Support service improvement initiatives.
- Assist with HR-related activities.
Eligibility
- Over 16 years old.
- Lived in the UK/EEA for the past 3 years.
- Right to work and reside in the UK.
- Not working towards another government-funded training programme.
- Hold GCSE Maths and English at a minimum of Grade C/4.
About the Role
This role supports Senior Leaders in a busy NHS division, contributing to high-quality healthcare services. Responsibilities include coordinating meetings, managing records, and supporting projects.

Education and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- GCSE in English Language and Maths grade A-C (Grade 4 and above) or equivalent level.
Desirable Criteria
- ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence)
- Typing qualification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Essential Criteria
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent IT and keyboard skills – Outlook 365/ all Microsoft packages.
- Ability to manage workload, organize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Desirable Criteria
- Familiarity with NHS systems such as Trac, Allocate/rosters, Power BI.
- The ability to use AI/Copilot tools efficiently.
Experience
Essential Criteria
- Prior clerical or administrative experience.
- Experience handling confidential or sensitive information in accordance with GDPR.
- Experience supporting meeting management, including managing diary entries, preparing papers, maintaining action logs, and minuting.
