Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
The role will be part of our Finance Community working within a team that are responsible for the implementation and compliance with cost management systems and processes.

What will you be doing?
The apprenticeship will be Level 4 AAT
As an Apprentice Assistant Cost Administrator you will support the delivery of the Cost Management team’s responsibilities, undertaking the following:
- Populating standard forms through purchasing and finance payment systems.
- Recording receipts from goods received on site / in depots ensuring that they are accurately input and allocated.
- Receiving and recording plant on hire / off hire tickets.
- Receiving and managing the flow of timesheet records.
You will be required to learn the governance structure and process set out in M Group policy documents and ensure that you always comply with these.
You will ensure that payments are correctly made, with 3-way cost proofing on PO requisition, GRNs and Invoice processing,
You will undertake ad hoc administrative tasks as set out by your team lead.
You will work to agreed timescales and manage deadlines, accordingly, flagging any workload challenges to your team leader as soon as you become aware of them.
You will be required to complete a range of mandated training through M Group’s training portal ensuring that you keep up to date as new courses or refreshers become due.

Our projects and programmes will typically have several phases throughout their life / the year as they progress. The tasks that you will be responsible for will vary through this progression and you will be expected to understand what is required of you and when and to learn new tasks as required by your team leader.
What You’ll Bring
- Five GCSEs at Grade 4/C or higher including Maths and English and a Level 3 qualification in Accountancy
- Effective communication skills
- Keen to learn with an interest in development and progression
