Summary
Head to Flying Legends in Rawcliffe for a well-needed refuel and rest, when you've had enough of the buzz of the city just 18 minutes away. When the sun's out, you can relax in the beer garden with spiced rums, world lagers and flavoured gins. With a spacious car park, disabled facilities and free Wi-Fi, the Flying Legends is ideal for quality time with the family.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As a Bar and Waiting Apprentice with Hungry Horse, you'll be the face of our company, making sure that every guest leaves with a smile on their face and a full belly. Whether it's greeting customers with a warm welcome or remembering that favourite spot they like to sit in, you know how to make them feel special. Amazing food, live sport, sun-drenched beer gardens and play areas for the kids: just a few things that make our Hungry Horse pubs so special. And with over 200 locations across the country, we've got sizzling steaks, to Sunday roasts and the perfect line-up of drinks to match.
You will...
- Provide customers with a heartfelt and memorable experience each and every time they visit.
- Be the insider behind the bar, offering recommendations to customers.
- Prepare and present drinks that meet specifications and customer expectations.
- Assist in greeting, serving food and looking after our customers whilst they dine with us.
- Make sure the bar is always safe, legal, and clean, and any issues are dealt with as quickly and safely as possible.

What you'll bring:
- Willingness to learn and expand your skills.
- A great eye for detail, making sure every pint is poured to perfection.
- A passion for giving great service and making sure every customer receives a warm welcome.
- A positive can-do attitude and be a real team player.
What your apprenticeship includes:
- Delivered through work-based training which includes a mixture of face-to-face sessions and remote Team calls with your Lifetime Learner Coach every 6 weeks.
- You will also have a mentor within the workplace to support you.
- Obtain Functional Skills in English and maths, with support tailored to your needs (if you don't already have GCSE or equivalents).
- Reviews every 12 weeks with the Apprentice, Line Manager and Lifetime Learner Coach including feedback sessions.
Course contents
- Serve food and beverages to individual business standards.
- Identify opportunities and apply techniques to increase sales and improve customer experience.
- Tailors communication techniques to meet customer needs and build rapport.
- Maintain a safe, hygienic, and secure working environment.
- Comply with health and safety legislation, regulations, guidelines and procedures.
- Follow food safety and allergen legislation and procedures applicable to own role.
- Use technology and equipment in line with business policy to meet customer needs.
- Handle transactions and payments securely.
- Work as part of a team to ensure that the products and services are delivered on time and in line with business needs.
- Deal with or escalate issues that impact service and customer experience, and implement any instructions given by supervisor.
- Use professional methods of communication that are tailored to different situations, and individual and team needs.
- Manages own time and workload, prioritising tasks.
- Maintain and rotate stock according to life cycle and business processes.
- Ensure equipment and technology faults and maintenance issues are reported promptly.
- Check customers are satisfied with products and services through questioning and act on feedback in line with business procedures.
- Keep up to date with changes to products and processes.
- Uses feedback to improve own performance.
- Reduces the waste of resources, taking sustainability into account, in line with business expectations.
- Follows and supports equity, diversity and inclusion legislation and principles.
- Participate in team briefings, implementing instructions, and offering input or feedback where relevant.
