Work as part of a friendly team supporting the day-to-day running of Young Somerset. You'll be the first point of contact for enquiries, provide administrative and financial support, maintain accurate records, and help coordinate activities that keep the charity running smoothly.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

This is a hybrid role so you will be required to have a suitable, confidential space to be able to work from home when required.

This apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in administration, business operations, and finance support within a busy charity environment. Working as part of the Finance and Enterprise team, you will provide essential administrative support across the organisation, helping ensure the smooth day-to-day running of services while developing valuable workplace skills and experience.

You'll be involved in a wide range of duties, including supporting visitors and colleagues, coordinating meetings and events, maintaining accurate records and filing systems, and assisting with finance administration. You will also help manage internal resources, update staff information and documentation, liaise with suppliers, and support the production of reports and spreadsheets.

Key duties will include:

  • Acting as a first point of contact for visitors, telephone calls, emails and enquiries
  • Supporting meeting and event administration, including room bookings, hospitality, agendas and minute-taking
  • Maintaining accurate records, filing systems and archives in line with GDPR requirements
  • Assisting with data entry and ensuring information is accurate and up to date
  • Monitoring shared inboxes and responding to enquiries appropriately
  • Raising purchase orders, obtaining supplier quotes and supporting finance processes
  • Producing reports and spreadsheets to support business and financial activities
  • Maintaining inventories of organisational assets and equipment
  • Updating internal documents, templates, guidance materials and intranet content
  • Conducting research and administrative tasks to support business decision-making

This role is ideal for someone who is organised, enthusiastic, keen to learn, and interested in developing a career in business administration, operations, or finance support. You will receive training and support while gaining practical experience across a variety of business functions.

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
