Salary: £34,433 - £38,220 per annum (Grade 6)

Hours: 36.66 per week

Based: District offices across the Oldham Borough

Role Overview

Working within Oldham Council’s Family Help service, you will be an experienced Family Worker with strong knowledge of good practice in work with children and families, experience of holding cases, developing quality support plans for families and ensuring children and families receive coordinated support from other relevant agencies as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for an allocated caseload of families who have multiple and complex needs, including:
  • Undertaking the role of lead professional, including chairing multi-agency team around the family meetings and co-ordinating development and delivery of multi-agency support plans which address assessed needs and risks.
  • To use strength based creative approaches to build trusting relationships with families that enable challenge and support to help build resilience, self-reliance, and improve family life and children’s outcomes.
  • To carry out holistic assessments, in partnership with family members, to identify and understand the unique strengths, assets, risks and challenges faced by the family and analyse this to create a bespoke plan of work in partnership with the family.

Key Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • Substantial experience of assessing and analysing the needs of children and families and implementing programmes of support to address these.
  • Extensive experience of working within a service delivering support to families who have complex lives which may include mental health, offending, substance misuse, domestic abuse and may be resistant to service involvement.
  • You’ll need to be able to communicate effectively and work in partnership with many different partner organisations, who support children and families to be in control of their lives.
