Location: Heritage House, Maidstone
Working pattern: 4 days in the office / 1 day at college
Employment: Full-time Apprenticeship
We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice CAD Technician to join our team at Heritage House in Maidstone.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is already studying a CAD Technician course at college, ideally in their second year or with some existing knowledge and experience of CAD, and who is looking to develop their skills within the construction industry.
You will work alongside our experienced design and technical team, gaining practical experience of using CAD within a busy carpentry and joinery business. You will have the opportunity to see how technical drawings are developed and used throughout real construction projects, while continuing your college studies one day a week.
The Role
Working under the guidance of our senior technicians and designers, you will:
- Assist with creating and modifying CAD drawings for carpentry and joinery projects.
- Interpret architectural and technical drawings and develop your understanding of construction drawings.
- Prepare and update detailed technical drawings and project documentation.
- Support the design team with layouts, measurements, and material specifications.
- Maintain accurate digital drawing files and project information.
- Develop your knowledge of how CAD is used within the construction and carpentry industry.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the office and, where appropriate, gain an understanding of how drawings translate into work on site.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
