Job Title: Apprentice Chef
Salary/Hourly Rate: 13.45 per hour
Location: Rubery Great Park, B45
Reporting to: Senior Sous Chef
Hours/Working Pattern: 40 hours per week
Contractual Requirements: Candidates must be aged 18+

Join us and take the first step towards becoming a qualified Commis Chef through a nationally recognised apprenticeship programme. You'll gain hands-on experience, learn from experienced chefs, and develop the skills needed for a successful career in hospitality.
We’re currently recruiting for an ambitious Apprentice Commis Chef to join our team and help deliver exceptional experiences for Parklands on a full-time basis contracted to 40 hours per week.
As an apprentice Commis Chef, you will work alongside a passionate and supportive team, gaining hands-on experience while developing your skills through structured training. No prior experience is required as full training will be provided as part of the apprenticeship!
On completion of the Apprenticeship, you will achieve the L2 Commis Chef qualification and become a qualified Commis Chef.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Preparing ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring.
- Supporting senior chefs to ensure dishes are prepared and served on time.
- Receiving and storing deliveries, rotating stock using FIFO (First In, First Out), and checking expiry dates.
- Keeping work areas clean, organised, and safe throughout service.
- Following food hygiene, health and safety, and HACCP procedures at all times.
- Assisting with end-of-shift cleaning and kitchen maintenance.

Our Ideal Apprentice Will
- Have some kitchen experience, such as working as a Kitchen Porter.
- Be eager to learn and develop a career in the catering industry.
- Work well as part of a team and take direction from senior colleagues.
- Have good communication and basic IT skills.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and remain on their feet for long periods.
- Be willing to undertake manual tasks, including lifting and moving kitchen supplies.
