About the Role

Newby Foundries is seeking a motivated apprentice to join their team of skilled engineers. As a CNC Machinist you will develop practical skills in areas such as operating and setting CNC machinery, reading engineering drawings, using precision measuring equipment and understanding machining processes.

Daily/Weekly Tasks

  • Prepare, set up, and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, and other equipment) safely and efficiently in line with the companies rules on H&S
  • Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and blueprints to ensure accurate production
  • Carry out pre-shift checks on all machines you are about to use before operating them
  • Assist with tooling changes, machine adjustments, and first-piece inspections under supervision
  • Apply precision measuring instruments to check quality and consistency of components, recording necessary measurements
  • Follow instructions to maintain machining processes, including planning sequences of operations, calculating speeds and feeds, and selecting appropriate materials and tooling
  • Maintain equipment and clean work areas, adhering to health, safety, and industry regulations such as COSHH, and PPE guidance
