Compliance Apprentice at BOUM
At BOUM, we're looking for a motivated and curious individual to join our Compliance Team as a Compliance Apprentice.
This is a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding career in a specialist area of the insurance industry, gaining hands-on experience while working towards a fully funded professional qualification.

Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with a 1-hour lunch break. 35-hours per week.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As a Compliance Apprentice, you will work closely with our Head of Compliance and wider business teams, supporting colleagues across the UK, US and Canada. You will gain exposure to a broad range of compliance activities and develop valuable skills that can lead to long-term career opportunities within BOUM.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Compliance team with day-to-day activities
- Assisting with monitoring regulatory requirements and internal policies
- Helping maintain compliance records and documentation
- Supporting sanctions and licensing processes
- Responding to compliance-related queries from colleagues
- Working collaboratively with teams across the business
- Contributing to projects that promote strong governance and regulatory standards
- Building knowledge of compliance frameworks and industry regulations

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Implement legal and regulatory framework requirements.
- Deliver risk and compliance services to stakeholders using organisational systems and processes.
- Plan and organise workloads to meet individual and team performance targets.
- Identify ways to reduce and mitigate incidents of non-compliance.
- Escalate compliance and risk issues where appropriate in line with organisational procedures.
- Manage records in order to meet audit requirements of the organisation.
- Produce evidence-based reports and management information for stakeholders considering visualisation techniques when presenting data.
- Select and use communication methods applicable to the audience and circumstances, for example, presentations, phone, face to face, email, virtual meetings.
- Communicate about products with customers, colleagues or stakeholders in different styles, for example visually, verbally, written, using e-comms.
- Build and maintain working relationships.
- Identify own training needs and seek feedback to improve performance and service delivered.
- Apply continuous improvement techniques when delivering improved compliance outcomes and mitigating risks.
- Record information electronically and make use of available technology, for example Management Information Systems (MIS), spreadsheets, presentation software, word processing, email, virtual communication.
- Handle data safely and securely and share information in compliance with data protection legislation and organisational policy.

An apprenticeship includes regular training in the workplace and with Skills Edge Training. You will be provided regularly off-the-job training time to complete your training and studies.

Apprenticeship programme: Compliance and Risk Officer, equal to Level 3 (A level).

- Regular seminars
- All seminars recorded and available on demand
- Interactive chat, forums and class notebooks for real-time support and assistance from experienced financial services professionals
- Completion of the ICA Certificate in Compliance
Requirements
Desirable qualifications
- GCSE in:
- Maths and English (grade 4/C or above)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
