Apprentice Credit Controller – AAT Apprenticeship – Full Time
We are a fast-growing group of eight companies based in Ipswich, originally founded in 1988. We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Credit Controller to join our finance team at Edison House while completing an AAT apprenticeship.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in finance and gain a recognised AAT qualification. Alongside structured apprenticeship training, you will receive practical, hands-on experience within a supportive finance team and learn how to manage customer accounts accurately and professionally.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and reliable individual with good numeracy, communication and attention-to-detail skills. No previous finance experience is required, but you should be comfortable using spreadsheets, keen to learn and committed to completing your AAT apprenticeship alongside your day-to-day role.
Key Responsibilities
- Learning and supporting the day-to-day credit control activities across the group under the guidance of experienced finance colleagues
- Contacting customers by telephone and email regarding outstanding invoices, with support and training provided
- Posting and allocating customer receipts accurately
- Monitoring shared email inboxes and responding to routine queries promptly
- Setting up and maintaining customer accounts
- Assisting with aged debt reports and providing updates to the wider finance team
- Liaising with colleagues across the business to help resolve customer queries and process credit notes
- Keeping accurate records of customer contact, payment promises and account activity
- Escalating overdue accounts or complex queries to the Group Management & Project Accountant or Group Financial Controller
- Completing the learning, assignments and assessments required as part of the AAT apprenticeship
- Supporting the finance team with ad hoc administrative tasks and projects to build wider accounting experience

Essential Skills and Attributes
- Good numeracy skills and confidence working with figures
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- A positive, proactive attitude and genuine interest in developing a career in accounting and finance
- Commitment to completing the AAT apprenticeship, including attending training and meeting coursework deadlines
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A reliable and professional approach to handling customer information

Desirable Skills and Experience
- An interest in accounting, finance or business
- Previous experience in an office, finance or customer service environment, including work experience or a part-time role
- Any familiarity with accounting software such as Sage 50 Business Cloud
Hours
- 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday
- Paid apprenticeship training and study time will be provided in line with the AAT programme
