About The Role

Expected Apprenticeship Duration: 12 to 18 months.

The working week is Monday to Friday from 9am until 5.15pm (36.25) with 1 hour off for lunch. Flexible working arrangements for this role will be considered and can be discussed at interview.

We're looking for enthusiastic Apprentice Customer Service Advisors to join our Member Connect team in Newcastle. This is an exciting "earn while you learn" opportunity designed for school leavers, college leavers and career changers.

You'll gain valuable workplace experience, work towards a recognised qualification and develop the skills needed for a successful customer service career.

You'll learn how to support customers over the telephone, manage enquiries, use business systems and work effectively as part of a professional contact centre team.

Please note: To support your development, you will be required to attend our Newcastle office five days per week throughout the apprenticeship programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound customer calls professionally and courteously.
  • Provide accurate information and support to customers.
  • Maintain accurate customer records.
  • Deliver excellent customer service on every interaction.
  • Follow company procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business.
  • Actively engage with apprenticeship learning and development activities.

Essential

  • Due to the sensitive nature of the information we handle, successful applicants must pass Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) checks and have been resident in the UK for the past three years.
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths.
  • A genuine interest in customer service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Previous customer-facing experience in retail, hospitality, volunteering or customer service.
  • Quick to learn and adapt to new systems and applications.

For administration staff, we provide guidance and mentors for the Award in Pensions Essentials (APE) through our industry professional body the Pensions Management Institute. We also provide lots of other training and development to support you through your career with us. This ranges from technical training to help you understand the new world that you are joining to general office training such as what to say on the telephone and pretty much everything else in between.
