Apprentice Data & Insight

Duration: 2 Year Apprenticeship
Start Date: January 2027
Location: London Bridge
Course: Data Analyst, Level 4.

Your Team

Embedded within the Times Analytics department, your role in Commercial Analytics focuses directly on business performance and revenue intelligence. As an apprentice, you will combine hands-on technical training in SQL and visualisation tools with real-world commercial problem solving. You will support key decisions around reader acquisition, paywall optimisation, and ad performance, serving as an internal analytics partner to commercial decision-makers.

Your Role

As a Data and Insight Apprentice, you will support our editorial and marketing teams with best-in-class customer insight and analysis. You will represent the voice of our readers, helping shape key business decisions through rich, actionable customer intelligence.

Being an Apprentice at News UK

During your time with us, you will earn above the national living wage while receiving comprehensive, hands-on training. You’ll work 4 days a week with News UK and spend 1 day studying toward a fully funded Data analyst, Level 4 qualification. Along with mentorship from top industry professionals, we will provide any tailored support you need to reach your full potential.

Day to day you will:

  • Harness multiple data sources spanning customer research, market trends, and digital engagement behavior to become a trusted point of contact for our brands.
  • Assist with the analysis and delivery of regular audience profiling and reporting, responding to stakeholder queries and working with insight agencies.
  • Add value to our titles by deepening our understanding of customer feedback, behavior, and product performance.
  • Collaborate closely with teams across Newsrooms, Customer Experience, Marketing, and Product Development to provide actionable insights that improve decision-making, content commissioning, and audience engagement.
  • Utilise internal reader panels, external research partners, and industry data to create engaging insight presentations.
  • Build dashboards and analyse audience behavior to help stakeholders utilise full data sets while telling compelling stories using data.

What We're Looking for From You

  • Demonstration of a strong passion for the media industry and a drive to learn about our business, products, and culture.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to connect dots between complex data sources and learn new data visualisation tools.
  • Clear, engaging communication skills to share data stories effectively with team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Practical familiarity with tools such as Excel/Google Sheets, Word/Google Docs, and PowerPoint/Google Slides.
