Apprentice Dental Nurse - Bridport

Summary
As an Apprentice Dental Nurse, you’ll support clinicians to deliver a range of high-quality dental treatments and help the smooth running of your surgery and the practice. You will enjoy being part of a team that’s passionate about caring for patients and helping the nation smile. Alongside your role, you will achieve a Level 3 in Dental Nursing.
Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
You’ll be joining the UK’s leading dental network, delivering high-quality dentistry that makes people smile. We take pride in the investments we make in our people, including support for you to complete your level three apprenticeship via our trusted partner Tempdent and your ongoing professional development.
- Reception including answering the phone and greeting patients
- Dealing with patient queries
- Taking payments
- Booking appointments and follow ups
- Sterilising and preparing equipment for dentists
- Recording and dealing with patient records
- Supporting patients' wellbeing and dental experience
- Cleaning dental areas including chairs
- Managing stock of equipment and supplies
- Any other duties to support the dentists and senior team to provide effective patient care

What you'll learn
- Course contents include identifying relevant and appropriate dental, oral, craniofacial, and general anatomy; evaluating the health risks of drug use on oral and general health; understanding the scientific principles of materials used in dentistry; identifying signs of abuse, neglect, or emotional trauma; assessing patients’ levels of anxiety and experience; contributing to special investigations and diagnostic procedures; obtaining valid consent; recording patient history and dental charting; preparing records and equipment for clinical assessment; managing patient anxiety; implementing decontamination and infection control procedures; preparing and maintaining the clinical environment; identifying and managing medical emergencies; providing preventive advice; communicating effectively with patients and colleagues; maintaining patient records; and much more.

Requirements
Desirable qualifications
- GCSE in Maths (grade 4)
- GCSE in English (grade 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
