The apprenticeship in dental nursing is an 18-month government funded course by City & Guilds, a Level 3 Extended Diploma. Alongside your learning, your job role within the practice will entail assisting dentists, sterilising & preparing equipment, reception duties, and supporting patient experience.
Requirements
- GCSEs in Maths (grade 4) and English (grade 4) are desirable. Other relevant qualifications and industry experience will be considered and may adjust the apprenticeship.
Responsibilities
- Provide efficient and reliable chairside support to clinicians.
- Ensure high standards of patient care, confidentiality, and GDPR compliance.
- Welcome patients and assist with appointment scheduling.
- Handle basic patient enquiries professionally and appropriately.
- Prepare surgeries, sterilise instruments, and maintain infection control to CQC standards.
- Assist clinicians during treatments and accurately update patient records.
- Support patients’ comfort, reassurance, and overall dental experience.
- Monitor and manage stock, equipment, and surgery readiness.
- Maintain clean, safe, and fully equipped clinical areas.
- Uphold patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate with dentists and the wider team to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care.

Benefits
- Wage: £12,480 for your first year, with potential increases depending on age (National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices applies).
- Training Course: Dental nurse (level 3) via City & Guilds.
- Hours: 9:15 am - 5:45 pm, Monday - Friday (30 hours a week, with a 30-minute lunch break daily).
- Duration: 1 year 6 months.
- Start Date: Tuesday 1 September 2026.
