I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Our School Mission
The academy will endeavour to raise the achievement and aspirations of every child.
The relationships in a child or young person’s life are very important to their wellbeing and development. In a school setting, this means that their relationships with school staff, and with each other, should be nurtured and supported.
Positive relationships in the classroom/school that are built on trust, kindness, safety and security are an important tool for change, linked not only to better child wellbeing but also to better educational performance.
Our Curriculum
Threaded through all teaching and learning are planned opportunities and focus on developing the children as 'Global Citizens'. The global dimension to our curriculum helps pupils understand global issues and explore ways of addressing them within and beyond school.
As a staff, we agreed on three core values that underpin everything we do in school. These are values we seek to develop in our children. We also agreed on seven key principles for our curriculum that inform our pedagogical approach and the types of activities set as part of the implementation of the curriculum.
