About The Role

Start Your Career as an Electrician with North Northamptonshire Council

We are recruiting for Electrical Apprenticeships and looking for enthusiastic individuals who want to build a rewarding career in the electrical trade.

As an Electrical Apprentice, you will work towards achieving the Level 3 Installation and Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship, developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to become a qualified Electrician. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience while supporting qualified tradespeople to deliver high-quality repairs, maintenance, and improvement works across our housing properties, helping to make a real difference to tenants' homes and communities.

What will you be doing?

  • Work towards successfully achieving the Level 3 Installation and Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship, developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a qualified Electrician.
  • Support qualified electricians with repairs, maintenance and improvement works across North Northamptonshire Council's housing properties.
  • Gain practical, hands-on experience while applying learning from college and workplace training.
  • Assist with a range of site-based activities, including electrical work, labouring duties and administrative tasks, under the guidance of experienced colleagues.
  • Attend all required training, college sessions and mentoring meetings to support professional development.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment and reporting hazards promptly.
  • Learn from experienced tradespeople, building the skills and confidence needed for a successful career in the electrical trade.
  • Work across a variety of locations and environments, including outdoor settings and varying weather conditions, while handling tools, equipment and materials safely.

About You

  • GCSE Maths and English at grades A-C or 4-9 or equivalent is Essential.
  • Ability to travel to college within Northamptonshire / Leicestershire for day release
