This vacancy is for an Apprentice Electrical/Electronic Engineer based in Darwen. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to undertake valuable work experience and support the Electrical department within the company whilst gaining on-the-job qualifications.
Electrical Engineers Typically Do the Following:
- Design new ways to use electrical power to develop or improve products
- Do detailed calculations to develop manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications
- Direct manufacturing, installing, and testing of electrical equipment to ensure that products meet specifications and codes
- Work with project managers on production efforts to ensure that projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget
Electronics Engineers Typically Do the Following:
- Design electronic components, software, products, or systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, or scientific applications
- Analyse customer needs and determine electrical system requirements, capacity, and cost to develop a system plan
- Develop maintenance and testing procedures for electronic components and equipment
- Evaluate systems and recommend design modifications or equipment repair
- Inspect electronic equipment, instruments, and systems to make sure they meet safety standards and applicable regulations
- Plan and develop applications and modifications for electronic properties used in parts and systems to improve technical performance

Apprenticeship Details:
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.
Course Contents:
- Obtaining, checking, and using the appropriate documentation (such as job instructions, quality control documentation)
- Working safely at all times, complying with health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and organizational requirements planning and where applicable obtaining all the resources required to undertake the work activity
- Undertaking the work activity using the correct processes, procedures, and equipment
- Carrying out the required checks (such as quality, compliance, or testing) using the correct procedures, processes, and/or equipment
- Dealing promptly and effectively with engineering/manufacturing problems within the limits of their responsibility using approved diagnostic methods and techniques and report those which cannot be resolved to the appropriate personnel
- Completing any required documentation using the defined recording systems at the appropriate stages of the work activity
- Restoring the work area on completion of the activity and where applicable return any resources and consumables to the appropriate location
