About the Role

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff. With a view to permanent employment.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Process tender arrivals and log enquiries
  • Review and assess tenders, ensuring all tender documents are received and correct
  • Assess projects in conjunction with the Estimating Manager and Technical Team prior to undertaking project assessments
  • Calculate and prepare quantities in conjunction with the Estimating Manager
  • Obtain quotations for materials and build relationships with existing and new supply chain partners
  • Compile quotation letters, bills of quantities and other items required by the client
  • Once the tender is completed, incorporate all relevant details
  • Liaise with the client on an on-going basis to determine progress of quotation
  • Make quotation amendments where applicable from the client or the relevant teams
  • Maintain sound and cooperative working relationships with clients
  • Liaise with internal project management, purchasing, technical, finance and production teams on a required basis
  • Utilise Job Logic system and log appropriate information
  • The post holder will also undertake any other duties as required

What you'll learn

Course contents

  • Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
  • Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
  • Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
  • Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
  • Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
  • Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
  • Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
  • Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

Training schedule

Virtual Classroom sessions once every 2 weeks.

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade 4)
    • Maths (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
