Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine.

Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

Where will you be working?

At M Group Highways, we’re supporting the safe transportation and movement of people across the UK.

We don’t just build roads and bridges- we’re building a better future, creating lasting social value that gives back to the communities in which we work.

You’ll be joining our Highways Division as an Apprentice Estimator, where you will develop the technical, commercial and analytical skills required to become a professional estimator. Working alongside experienced estimators, bid managers, commercial teams and operational colleagues, you will support the preparation of competitive tender submissions while completing the apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship will be Construction Quantity Surveying Technician (Level 4).

What will you be doing?

  • Assist with tender preparation by coordinating documentation, drawings, and specifications, and supporting cost planning and estimating.
  • Support quantity take-offs, build-ups of labour, plant, materials and subcontract costs, and maintain estimating databases and pricing models.
  • Gather and analyse operational and financial data from live contracts, contributing to benchmarking and pricing strategies.
  • Support market testing, inflation forecasting, supply chain analysis, and review subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Participate in bid kick-off meetings, tender reviews, and the production of pricing reports and governance documentation.
  • Collaborate with bid, estimating, engineering and operational teams throughout the tender process and help hand over contracts to delivery teams.
  • Attend site visits to understand construction methods, risk management, and operational project delivery across highways, street lighting, and infrastructure works.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of contract requirements, client objectives, and industry standards.
  • Complete all apprenticeship modules, maintain development records, and seek opportunities to enhance technical, commercial, and digital skills while working towards professional membership.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
