About the Role
Edge Building Products Ltd is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice Finance Assistant to join its close-knit finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in finance while gaining valuable hands-on experience working towards a Level 2 AAT Accountancy Apprenticeship.

Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Handle payment queries and discrepancies
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records
Sales Ledger & Credit Control Cover
- Provide cover for the Credit Controller when required
- Raise and process customer invoices accurately and promptly
- Issue and manage credit notes in line with company procedures
- Support credit control activities, including chasing outstanding payments
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve account queries
- Maintain accurate sales ledger records
Administration
- Respond to emails in a professional and timely manner
- Update and maintain internal systems and records
- Support general finance team administration
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting and data management tasks
Customer & Supplier Support
- Resolve customer and supplier queries via phone and email
- Build and maintain positive working relationships
- Escalate issues where necessary

Apprenticeship Details
Training provider: CHICHESTER COLLEGE GROUP
Course contents: Record transactional data. Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices. Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary. Plan and review accounting and finance tasks. Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications. Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks. Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
Training schedule: This training schedule has not been finalised. Check with this employer if you’ll need to travel to a college or training location for this apprenticeship.
Desirable qualifications:
- GCSE in: English (grade 4)
- Math (grade 4)

What You Need to Know
- There is onsite parking and lunch is provided daily at Edge Building Products.
- This is a 16-month apprenticeship including end point assessment.
- This role is 4 days in the office and 1 day attendance at Chichester College.
- Applicants MUST BE resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to the start of learning and have work authorisation for the UK.
- Applicants WILL NOT BE eligible to apply if they have already achieved a qualification which is equal to or higher than the apprenticeship standard on offer.
- Applicants MUST BE resident in the area local to the apprenticeship opportunity or be prepared to relocate in time to start employment and study.
- Applicants MUST BE committed to the learning and stay to the end of the apprenticeship.
- This opportunity will give the successful candidate broad experience beyond purely transactional activity.
