Port Operations Apprenticeships

Are you looking for an opportunity to build a career in port operations while gaining a recognised qualification? Do you enjoy working with customers, being part of a team and learning from experienced people who want to help you succeed? If you are ready to develop new skills in a busy, hands-on operational environment, this could be the ideal role for you.

Your role

As a Port Operative at the Port of Greenock, you will help keep goods moving safely and efficiently for customers through the port, working across warehouse and quayside operational activities while completing a structured apprenticeship that will lead to an SVQ qualification in port operations. You will help service our customers, support drivers and hauliers arriving at the port and work closely with experienced colleagues who will share their knowledge, invest in your development and help you build confidence across a range of port activities.

This role forms the start of a structured career path in port operations.

What you'll bring

We are seeking people who are motivated to learn, keen to contribute and comfortable working in a customer-focused operational environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
