Role Overview

We are seeking an ambitious graduate who wants responsibility, professional development, and a clear path to becoming a mortgage broker. Join our training programme to gain hands-on client experience, achieve the CeMAP qualification, and progress towards adviser status in a rewarding financial services career.

Training Programme

Months 1-6

  • Join the customer contact team as a trainee Customer Relationship Manager, taking ownership of customer and estate agency leads.
  • Speak with customers to understand their circumstances, build trust, and secure commitment to mortgage, protection, and follow-up appointments.
  • Develop confidence using the CRM, diary management, and mortgage-related software systems, while maintaining accurate and professional customer records.
  • Build a practical understanding of the mortgage journey, required documentation, service standards, compliance requirements, and wider referral opportunities.

Months 7-12

  • Work alongside experienced mortgage brokers within a branch-based advisory team and progressively take on greater responsibility for client and case support.
  • Observe and support live customer appointments, including initial consultations, mortgage sign-ups, and protection discussions.
  • Request, review, and organise customer documentation, ensuring information is complete, accurate, and ready for the advice process.
  • Support Agreements in Principle and mortgage applications, learning how cases progress from initial enquiry through to submission.
  • Complete supervised compliance and quality checks, developing a clear understanding of regulated advice standards and customer outcomes.
  • Spend time with case managers to understand the post-sale process, lender communication, and the customer journey through to completion.
  • Following completion of CeMAP 1, 2, and 3, attend the MAB Academy programme in preparation for final competency sign-off and adviser authorisation.

Course Contents

  • The ability to elicit customer's needs through effective fact-finding and questioning techniques and provides solutions through research and analysis. Can plan and prioritise workloads and deliver all required outputs to customers and colleagues; achieving all internal standards (e.g. service standards, accuracy, attention to detail, meeting required risk, regulatory, and governance requirements.
  • Has high-quality written and verbal communication skills and is able to handle a range of situations and issues that arise. Has the ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, professional contacts, and third-party product providers.
  • An understanding of regulatory requirements by working compliantly, including data protection and treating customers fairly. Identify specific threats to the business and act appropriately in line with regulation and governance. E.g. ensuring that confidential information is only shared with the relevant people.
  • The ability to identify, generate, and develop relationships that support the role. E.g. professional contacts, new business opportunities through internal/external networking, and customer referrals.
  • Adheres to all relevant processes and procedures using technical ability and proficient IT skills to deliver positive outcomes for customers and the business, within the risk, regulatory, and governance requirements.

Training Schedule

The Mortgage Adviser apprenticeship is perfect for those looking to develop the knowledge and skills required to work within this specialised role, as well as obtaining a regulatory qualification.

Through job-based training and study towards a highly respected benchmark qualification, the apprentice will become a competent and confident mortgage adviser.

Professional Qualifications

  • Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP1,2,3) - awarded by The London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF)
  • The apprentice is assigned a dedicated experienced mentor to guide them through the programme. Regular scheduled interactions with the apprentice ensure they are developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to become competent in the role
  • To help prepare the apprentice for the CeMAP qualification, Apprentices are provided with Simply Academy’s CeMAP resource package, alongside a structured study plan supported by a series of live revision sessions with our CeMAP tutors

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE in: 5 subjects including maths and english (grade C/above)
  • Degree in: Any (grade 2:2 or above)

Applicants must be prepared to combine a full-time client-facing role with independent study towards professional qualifications. We are looking for evidence of achievement, responsibility, and resilience gained through university, employment, placements, volunteering, sport, societies, or other relevant experience. Apprenticeship eligibility will be confirmed with the training provider.
