Your focus will be on delivering and developing group/pod work programmes, such as Foundations of Recovery. You will work with other programme facilitators and professionals within your project to design and deliver groups/pods, using evidence based practice, covering the most appropriate issues to your service users.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As a Group Work Facilitator Apprentice, you will be working towards the Adult Care Worker Level 2 apprenticeship over the duration of 15 months, alongside your daily roles and responsibilities.

To work within the learning environment at Change Grow Live (CGL) to gain experience in order to develop the skills and knowledge which will assist you to complete your qualification and progress in your career in the health and social care field in the future.

You will work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team at the service named above, to support delivery of high-quality provision by:

  • Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey
  • With training, provide screening, assessment, psychosocial interventions, recovery planning and onward referral
  • Learn about and support reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
  • Helping to promote carer, service user and community involvement
  • Supporting advocacy for service users to be able to access partnership services
  • Working with service users to support social (re)integration, enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives: promoting recovery, resilience, peer support and self-determination

In addition to the Recovery Worker JD and Programmes Facilitator Role Specifics, the post holder will:

  • Deliver psychosocial interventions as part of the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service within the prison estate
  • Work in partnership with other healthcare providers as part of an Integrated Health and Wellbeing model
  • Be required to work with key prison stakeholders enabling effective coordination of service user treatment
  • To deliver group-based interventions as well as providing 1:1 support for hard to engage service users, specifically those not groupwork ready
  • To be creative and innovative so that the post best meets the service user, promoting access into treatment, and encouraging engagement with underrepresented communities
  • To provide a confidential, safe and secure learning environment for service users to include where possible a therapeutic environment
  • Assess suitability for groups related to risk and special needs, working closely with prison partners to schedule attendance

  • Consider the human rights of individuals in adult social care settings, in line with organisational policies relating to equity, diversity and inclusion to support an open culture.
  • Demonstrate a duty of candour, and duty of care acting in the best interest of individuals to ensure they do not come to harm.
  • Apply a person-centred, co-produced approach when developing relationships with individuals to support their health and wellbeing.
  • Assist with conducting risk assessments, which focus on positive risk taking, to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
  • Apply the principles of positive and proactive care and support for those with lived experience to proactively avoid or reduce escalation, de-escalate, and manage conflict.
  • Customise information, advice and guidance to individuals with or without capacity or their representative to make informed, independent choices and decisions.
  • Adapt approach to care and support for individuals with lived experience to meet their current and evolving cognitive and physical needs and conditions.
  • Recognise and respect how an individuals capacity determines their ability to make informed decisions about their needs.
  • Identify and respond to signs and symptoms of changes in the physical and mental capacity, mental health and wellbeing of those with lived experience, and monitor, record and report changes.

The key dates provided should be used as a guide only, should the right candidate be found the position will close. Staff will need to work flexibly across operational sites as required and to work flexibly within an agreed number of hours to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. This may involve evening and weekend working.
