About this opportunity
Assisting senior Health & Safety Consultants in advising on health and safety issues relating to construction projects, including new builds, renovations and maintenance works – from project initiation to completion.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting Health & Safety Consultants in:
- Advising clients of their duties under the CDM regulations and other construction-related health and safety standards, regulations and legislation
- Notifying details of the project to Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
- Coordinating health and safety aspects of design work
- Cooperating with others involved with the project
- Facilitating good communication between the client, designers and contractors
- Liaising with the Principal Contractor regarding ongoing design work
- Identifying, collecting and passing on pre-construction information, and prepare / update the health and safety file.

Who we’re looking for:
Experience, Knowledge And Key Skills
Develop your knowledge and further post graduate practical experience in the following;
- Health and safety legislation
- HSE guidance and approved Codes of Practice
- Preparation of pre-construction information
- Selection of competent designers and contractors
- Reviewing construction phase plans and safe systems of work
- Construction methods and materials
- Post contract management of health and safety and preparation of health and safety files
- Clear and effective communication skills – both oral and written
- Methodical way of thinking and approach to work
- Good problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills
- Good organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changing environments
- Competent ICT skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams.
Qualifications
- IOSH accredited degree
- An appropriate Level 4 HNC/HTQ or apprenticeship
- GCSEs, grades A*-C including Maths and English at (grade 5) and above or equivalent.
- Right to live and work in the UK.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changes.
- Good ICT skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
