Apprentice Auto Technician Halfords Autocentre Montrose
Join Halfords as an Apprentice Auto Technician and gain hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification with GTG Training.
About The Role
Based in our Montrose Autocentre, you'll work alongside experienced technicians, learning how to inspect, service, maintain, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles. No two days are the same, with exposure to modern technologies, diagnostics and complex vehicle repairs.
We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in building a career in the motor industry.
Working Hours
- 5-day working week
- 40 hours (under 18s) / 44 hours (18+)
- Autocentre opening hours: 8:00am to 6:00pm

Training & Qualifications
You'll work towards:
- SCQF Level 5 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Opportunity to progress to SCQF Level 7 after two years
Training includes workplace safety, vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and electrical systems, supported by dedicated GTG and Halfords mentors.

Entry Requirements
- National 4 (or above) in Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject (or equivalent)
Skills & Qualities
- Passion for vehicles and mechanical work
- Practical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and teamwork
- Organised with good attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and adapt
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- Customer-focused approach
