Job Description

Level 5 Digital Learning Designer Apprenticeship Hemel Hempstead | 24 Month FTC

Are you creative, technically curious, and interested in how people learn?

We are looking for an Apprentice Online Training Designer to join our Global Training team to help develop the next generation of digital learning solutions used by colleagues around the world.

This is a 24-month fixed-term contract based on-site in Hemel Hempstead. As a result, our strong preference is for candidates who are local to Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding areas, target start date of 14th September.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for design, multimedia, animation, digital content creation or learning technology who wants to build a career in digital learning and instructional design while studying towards a Level 5 Digital Learning Designer Apprenticeship.

You'll gain hands-on experience creating engaging online training, working with modern e-learning technologies and collaborating with technical experts from a global technology business.

What You'll Be Doing

Working alongside experienced digital learning professionals, you'll support the design, development and maintenance of online training programmes for a global audience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the design and development of online learning modules using e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline.
  • Creating storyboards and learner journeys that help transform technical information into engaging learning experiences.
  • Supporting the creation of assessments, quizzes and knowledge checks.
  • Recording and editing audio for training content.
  • Capturing and editing video content.
  • Creating and enhancing images for use within digital learning solutions.
  • Developing basic 3D assets and animations for interactive learning experiences.
  • Working with AI-enabled tools to support content creation and learner engagement.
  • Supporting the maintenance of learning content within our Learning Management System.
  • Working with Subject Matter Experts and engineers to ensure training content remains accurate and effective.
  • Analysing learner feedback and training metrics to support continuous improvement.

We're looking for someone who is creative, enthusiastic and keen to learn.

What Will Make You Stand Out?

The strongest applicants are likely to demonstrate:

  • A genuine passion for digital design and learning technologies.
  • Experience creating visual, multimedia or animated content.
  • An interest in animation, video production, graphic design or user experience.
  • Evidence of creative projects, coursework or personal portfolios.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI and digital content creation tools.
  • The ability to explain how design can improve the learner experience.

You do not need commercial experience. We're looking for potential, creativity and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

  • A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • An interest in digital learning, design, multimedia or content creation.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn new skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Relevant Qualifications:

  • UAL Diploma or Extended Diploma in Art, Design & Communication
  • T Level in Media, Broadcast and Production
