Role Description

This is a contract, on-site role for an Apprentice Painter and Decorator based in the London Area, United Kingdom. The apprentice will assist with preparing surfaces, including cleaning, sanding, filling, and masking, to ensure areas are ready for painting and decorating. Daily tasks include mixing and applying paints and coatings, helping with brush and roller work, and supporting spray painting where required under supervision. The role involves maintaining tools and equipment, keeping work areas tidy and safe, and following instructions from senior painters and site supervisors. The apprentice will also learn to read basic job specifications, select suitable materials, and uphold health and safety standards while working across different properties.

  • Practical skills or strong interest in paint application, including Painting and Decorating and general Painting.
  • Ability or willingness to learn working with different Coatings and basic Spray Painting techniques.
  • Good hand–eye coordination, attention to detail, and ability to follow technical instructions.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn health and safety practices relevant to painting and decorating work.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work on-site across the London Area, sometimes at multiple locations.
  • Ability to work under supervision, take feedback, and collaborate effectively with a small team.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy; any prior experience in construction or maintenance is an advantage.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom; relevant vocational training or interest in an apprenticeship pathway is beneficial.
