About the People Team and the role

The People Team supports the full employee journey at THG Ingenuity, from attracting and welcoming new colleagues through to development, payroll, employee relations and leaving the business.

As an Apprentice People Services Assistant, you will join our People Services team and gain practical experience across a wide range of people administration activities. You will work closely with experienced colleagues, managers and employees, developing your knowledge of HR systems, processes and employment practices while completing your apprenticeship.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, approachable and keen to build a career in HR.

As an Apprentice People Services Assistant, you will:

  • Support the People Services team with day-to-day HR administration.
  • Help collect and check new starter information and documentation.
  • Support the onboarding and induction process for new employees.
  • Maintain accurate electronic employee records and personnel files.
  • Assist with monitoring probation periods and preparing relevant reports.
  • Help respond to general queries from managers and employees, escalating more complex questions when needed.
  • Support the leaver process, ensuring information is recorded accurately and on time.
  • Assist with preparing resignation confirmations and other employee correspondence.
  • Support the preparation of change of terms letters, ensuring information is accurate and approved.
  • Update the HR system to reflect changes to employee information, reporting lines and organisational structures.
  • Assist with processing employment contracts through the appropriate approval process.
  • Help ensure contracts are issued and signed through the DocuSign portal.
  • Learn how different templates and processes apply across countries, departments, roles and acquired businesses.
  • Support regular checks to ensure documents have been returned, signed and filed correctly.
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly international payroll information.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across our international locations.
  • Develop a strong understanding of HR systems, including Frontier Software.
  • Support the wider People Team with projects and administrative tasks as required.
  • Take responsibility for completing your apprenticeship work and applying your learning in the workplace.

What skills and experience do I need?

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about starting a career in HR and is willing to learn. You do not need previous HR experience, but you should be able to demonstrate:

  • A genuine interest in people, HR and business administration.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Clear and professional communication skills.
  • The confidence to ask questions and seek guidance when needed.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A discreet and confidential approach when handling personal information.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to review information carefully and identify errors or missing details.
  • A practical and proactive approach to problem-solving.

What you will learn

During your apprenticeship, you will develop experience and knowledge in:

  • HR administration and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Recruitment, onboarding and leaver administration.
  • Maintaining accurate employee data and HR records.
  • HR systems and reporting.
  • Payroll processes and deadlines.
  • Employment documentation and change processes.
  • Providing effective support to managers and employees.
  • Confidentiality, data protection and compliance.
  • Working with stakeholders across different teams and countries.

You will receive support from the People Team throughout your apprenticeship, with regular guidance, feedback and opportunities to build your confidence and develop your career within HR.
