About the Role
As an Apprentice Piping Designer, you will receive development training to become proficient in the design of piping systems using sophisticated 3D modelling software packages across a range of diverse projects. Costain is positioning itself to become a key player in the transition to green and sustainable energy solutions. Our projects include Carbon Capture and Hydrogen Generation, Storage and Distribution from Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design, through to Construction and Commissioning.

For this role you will be enrolled onto the L3 Engineering Design Technician apprenticeship.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with engineers to design piping systems that meet project specifications
- Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes and standards
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure designs are completed on time and within budget
- Support site visits to gather information and verify existing conditions
- Work under the guidance of senior designers
- Build piping models from laser scans and site surveys
- Perform piping clash checks

Qualifications
- Minimum five GCSE’s grade 4/C or above including Maths and English (or equivalent)
- To enable us to fully assess your application, please ensure your application includes details of your educational qualifications at GCSE or equivalent level.
- Passionate about engineering with a willingness to learn and develop
- IT proficient (i.e. Microsoft Office)
- Able to work accurately and appreciate its importance to the team
- Able to build and maintain positive working relationships
- The ability to thrive in pressured situations
- The ability to empathise and communicate with all people, regardless of their background or circumstances
- Good organisation and time management skills
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Always work with consideration of Health, Safety and the Environment.
