Apprentice Podcast Producer
Duration: 2 Year Apprenticeship
Start Date: January 2027
Location: London Bridge
talkSPORT is the world’s biggest sports radio station. From World Cups and European Championships to the Premier League and the Champions League, through to Test cricket and world-class boxing, the talkSPORT network is at the heart of the world’s major sporting events.
Your Role
We are seeking a passionate and talented Apprentice Podcast Producer to join our team at talkSPORT. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an aspiring producer to develop their skills and gain valuable experience working on a leading sport platform, while also acquiring an industry-recognised NCTJ qualification.
Being an Apprentice at talkSPORT
During your time with us, you will earn above the national living wage while receiving comprehensive, hands-on training. You’ll work 4 days a week with talkSPORT and spend 1 day studying toward a fully funded NCTJ Diploma in Journalism. Along with mentorship from top industry professionals, we will provide any tailored support you need to reach your full potential.
Day to Day
- Stay up-to-date with the latest sporting events, news and trends
- Help to curate talkSPORT’s range of podcasts with relevant content ideas
- Edit high-quality audio and video content for a range of podcasts
- Edit full-length video episodes to tight deadlines, as well as clips, and social-first content for platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok
- Develop creative formats and visual ideas to grow shows
- Write scripts for a range of podcast styles and presenting styles
- Collaborate with producers, presenters, and editorial teams to ensure alignment with editorial standards
- Learn how to apply color grading, text overlays, and lower-thirds to emphasise key narrative points
- Help manage post-production workflows, including graphics, and subtitling
- Learn how to monitor performance and analytics to inform content strategy and optimisation
What We Are Looking For From You
- You are passionate about sports journalism and creating great content
- The ability to turn new and imaginative ideas into reality and help us reach new and diverse audiences
- Self-motivated with good initiative—someone who proactively spots opportunities, brings fresh ideas to the table, and drives tasks forward independently
- Someone who excites people through storytelling
- Strong communication skills - you can make the complex simple
- Creative and curious mind, with the ability to think differently
- Good understanding of what makes a story engaging
- Problem-solving skills to creatively "edit around" technical glitches or recording imperfections
- A collaborative team player who thrives alongside producers and presenters
